Picigin tournament 2025

A day to remember at Bijeca

Picigin 2025 was held on August 17, 2025, at our famous sandy beach, Bijeca, in Medulin, right next to Havana Beach Bar. The tournament kicked off at 1:00 PM, and for the first time, registrations were conducted online, resulting in an excellent turnout.

11 teams participated, consisting of young and older competitors, both men and women. We are especially pleased that, alongside local teams from the Medulin municipality, teams from outside our municipality also took part, once again proving that picigin connects all people of goodwill.

Preserving heritage through sport

Picigin is a traditional game and an important part of our coastal heritage. By organizing this tournament, the Galeb association strives to preserve this tradition and encourage all generations to engage in sports, socializing, and community in the unique Medulin shallows.

Atmosphere and winners

Throughout the day, we made sure no one stayed hungry or thirsty; visitors and competitors could choose between traditional ćevapi and mussels (pedoći), while our DJ boosted the atmosphere and followed the tournament with music.

All tournament participants also received official event t-shirts as a souvenir of their participation. The event gathered:

• Over 50 competitors
• More than 100 spectators

After a tense struggle and many attractive moves, the victory went to the Batanjerosi team, to whom we send our sincere congratulations on their well-deserved title!

Evening party until dawn

Following the sports section, the program moved in front of Havana Beach Bar. The Alfa Time band and a DJ provided top-tier entertainment, and the atmosphere was so good that the party lasted until the early morning hours.
