A tradition living through generations
For us, the Medulin carnival (maškare) is not just an event on the calendar, it is a symbol of community that has connected us from the very beginning. Our team has proudly participated in the carnival for many years; even before we became an official association, we were there, gathered around a love for tradition and good times.
With the founding of UPSKKM Galeb, our participation has been raised to a new level. Today we are more organized than ever, which allows us to be recognized as the largest and most numerous group mask in the parade, while also taking on more responsible roles in the realization of the event itself.
Watch out for the speed bumps on the road, you’ll lose your shock absorbers.
More than just a parade
In addition to the cheerful parade through the streets of our town, we actively strive to participate in all phases of the carnival:
- Organization and logistics: We assist in the preparation and execution to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- Preserving customs: Last year, we provided refreshments with traditional maneštra (stew) and drinks for all visitors while waiting for the trial of the Pust.
- Creative workshops: We design and handcraft the complex group masks for which we have become well known.

Our main goal is to pass this unique carnival spirit on to younger generations. We want the youth of Medulin, and the surrounding areas, to feel the pride of belonging to this Croatian tradition and to preserve local culture through creativity.
Even if you don’t want to join our specific group mask, you are always invited to join the parade with your own mask! Our motto for the carnival is straightforward: the more of us there are, the better the fun and the stronger the atmosphere in the streets. Furthermore, you don’t have to be a resident of the municipality to participate, because all people of good will from all regions are welcome.
